I have finally decided on a logo for Love Learning A Mom’s Journey. If you follow me on Instagram you’ve probably noticed some inconsistency. I’m still learning and still trying to figure out that “something, something” especially with what colors I want to use. I was using a lot of pink and honestly, I am just not a fan of that color, so you’ll be seeing more blue in my posts. One thing I am sure about is the logo.

I thought this would be a perfect time to explain how the logo came about, how “Love Learning A Mom’s Journey” came about and, who the family behind the logo is.
The logo represents my family which consists of my husband, James, my two boys, Carter and Casey, and myself. Let’s start from the very beginning when my husband and I first met.
It was a beautiful spring day and I just knew something special was in store for me. I needed some bread and so I walked to the grocery store around the corner from my house. As I reached for the loaf, my hand met a gentleman’s hand and we had a good giggle.
HAHA. Does that even happen in real life? I swiped right.
We chatted online for a few days before planning our first date. Unfortunately I had to cancel on him (twice…yikes) but when we finally met, it was at a good old Tim Horton’s. I was so nervous I actually ripped up the bag from my tea into a million little pieces during the date (I don’t even drink tea so I have no idea why I ordered one). We planned a second date and from that day on, we spent just about every single day together. We moved pretty quickly, it was just our style I guess. We met in April and by mid July we had moved in together and bought a puppy together (Teller, who is still with us and just the best dog ever!) On our one year anniversary James brought me back to one of our date spots and gave me a photo album full of pictures from our year together. At the end of the book was a message saying “Will You Marry Me” and he was down on one knee with the ring in hand. He took me out for dinner and when we walked through the door our parents were there waiting to celebrate the news (he must have been pretty confident I would say yes…can you imagine how awkward THAT dinner would have been??) We got married just over a year later on June 25th. Three months later, the best news ever…I was pregnant. I was the happiest I had ever been in my life and I couldn’t wait to meet this little baby.
Baby boy was due on June 8th however, he was quite comfortable on the inside and my water only broke (with a little help from my O.B) on June 13th at 10:00 a.m in the doctor’s office. It wasn’t until June 14th at 11:01 p.m. that Carter decided to make his appearance and really, it wasn’t his choice. I’m sure if it was up to him he would have stayed in another week. After many, many hours of induced labor, extremely painful contractions, 2 failed epidurals, I heard my baby boy’s little cry after an emergency caesarean section. It was quite the ordeal and I had a hard time coming to grips with how the whole thing turned out, but most importantly, Carter was healthy and I finally met my baby boy. Carter is now 3 and a half years old and quite the toddler. He is my quiet (yet loud) shy, polite, snuggly, sweet little guy who became a big brother on February 15th, 2020.
It was actually shortly after Carter’s 2nd birthday that I found out I was pregnant with our second. We had given up trying because I was stressing out too much about it and just decided that it wasn’t the right time and that if it happened it happened. I remember having a drink on Carter’s birthday and after a few sips putting it down, and thinking I probably shouldn’t be drinking, juuuuust in case. I took the test and had a gut feeling I knew what the results would be. About 9 months later…Casey was born! Much like my birth story with Carter, this one wasn’t ideal either. He was a big boy, weighing in at 9 pounds, and my doctor had suggested a c-section but it was ultimately up to me. Long story short (perhaps a separate post) Casey came via c-section, with the cord wrapped around his neck, twice. Someone was looking out for us that day. Casey, is my sweet, happy, loud, wild little boy and I can’t wait to see what his toddler years have in store – or do I ?!?
So that explains the family part of the logo, James, my two boys, and myself. James and I are high-fiving because we are so corny that we have been high fiving each other throughout our entire relationship. And yes, we have a secret handshake.
So where did the name “Love Learning A Mom’s Journey” come from?
After my maternity leave was up, I decided I would try a career change and go from the daycare setting, which I had been doing for over a decade, and try office work. While I did love the job, Carter had some health problems which made the timing for an office job just wrong. I was missing way too much work and the guilt was eating me up inside. I was failing as an employee by calling in sick all the time, and failing as a mother when I would go into work and leave my sick child at home with someone other than his mother. #momguilt at its finest! So, I decided to take some time and stay home with my little guy. It was at this time when I decided to open my own home daycare. I thought long and hard about the name…I wanted it to describe me, and how I wanted to run the daycare. I wanted it to be a loving environment but also a learning one, as I know how important early childhood education is. Hence, “Love and Learning Home Daycare”.
So, what about the journey?
During my maternity leave with Casey, I decided that I wanted to go back to school to study Social Media. I have two more courses to go before graduating. It was during one of these courses where I had to create a blog! So I had to rack my brain again to think up a name and what exactly I wanted my blog to be about.
Motherhood.
I wanted my blog to be about motherhood. I wanted to share my stories about nursing, potty training, activities, day-to-day nonsense and the hard truths that come along with being a mom and a wife. I wanted to be able to share with other moms that it is okay to cry and want a break from your kids; I wanted to share the good, the bad and the ugly. I wanted to let moms know that they are not alone, we’re all in this together, and it’s crazy times.
So I created “Love Learning Mom’s Journey” and I am going to continue to share my journey as a mom, and wife, and hope that my stories reach others who might need a little help, some motivation, some support on a tough day, a laugh, or even just some reassurance knowing they’re not alone! I’ll also throw in my favorite recipes, and tips on how I manage our household! It’s a busy life, and it’s not always easy, but I love it!
Big changes are coming to my family next week, and I am ready to take them head on. This will be a whole new challenge for all of us, and I can’t wait to share the journey with you!
Hit follow, enter your e-mail and hop on this journey with me! There will be laughs, tears, drinks, and who knows what else!
Much love,
Shawna xoxo
